About Scarborough Goldwing Light Parade

The glittering Goldwing Light Parade & Fireworks Display has become a popular tradition for Scarborough, bringing thousands of bike fans from around the UK to the South Bay for a free seafront party every September. Goldwing motorcycles sporting neon lights transport a fleet of riders on a procession around the Marine Drive, illuminating both sides of the shoreline, before the night is closed out with a show-stopping fireworks display.

First held in 2008, the Goldwing Light Parade has built a reputation for its unique atmosphere. The site of the stunning motorcycles, decked with fluorescent lights, blaring music from the bikes' loudspeakers and driven by riders in fancy dress all adds up to create a truly fantastic spectacle. No matter what your age you're sure to find yourself captivated by the vivid visual display and aural assault as the bikes roar past you on the sea front.

The Goldwing Light Parade & Fireworks Display has won a deserved reputation as the first name for good time family fun in Scarborough, and we invite you to come down and join us for the party....

The Scarborough Goldwing Light Parade is one of the UK’s most glitzy Goldwing charity events and it all takes place beside the beach, followed by a fabulous fireworks display fired from the South Bay Beach around 9.30pm. A great weekend break for the whole family so book your accommodation early to avoid disappointment! The event raises thousands of pounds each year for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Dream bikes

The Goldwing Light Parade serves up a seaside spectacular motorcycles for you to feast your eyes upon before the parade begins. Goldwings ranging from vintage models to modern, stereo and lighting-equipped bikes will be in attendance, so come along, speak to the riders and swap road stories with fellow enthusiasts.

Daytime Static Display

Before the evening's parade by night there will be a static display of the motorcycles, running from 12pm to 4pm, on West Pier and Foreshore Road. Amongst the activities taking place during the six-hour display, the Mayor of Scarborough will judge his favourite trike and draw a raffle. Yorkshire Air Ambulance will run a gift shop and tombola.

The Evening Parade

Mustering for the parade begins from 6.30pm, giving the bikes ample time to arrange in parade formation. The parade starts at 8.00pm, leading the riders south along the Foreshore to the roundabout. From there the procession turns back along Foreshore Road and around Marine Drive, looping at Peasholm and returning to South Bay promenade. The event draws to a close with the dramatic firework display at 9.30pm.
